What is Context search?
Context Search is a Firefox extension that expands the "Search" item in the context menu to include a list of installed search engines, allowing you to choose a specific one each time.
You can add or rearrange search engines in Firefox's search toolbar ("Manage Search Engines").
Once the visible search engine menu appears:
- Left-click to search in a new background tab.
- Middle-click to search in a new tab and immediately switch to it.
- CTRL+Click to search in a new tab and immediately switch to it.
If your Firefox settings are configured to switch to new tabs immediately, the above key combinations will have the opposite effect.
- Shift+Click opens search results in a new window.
Hidden Preferences:
- Extensions.ContextSearch.SeparatorItems: A comma-separated list of search engines. Each menu separator will be added before every menu.
- Extensions.ContextSearch.QuotestringsWithSpaces: Automatically encloses search strings containing spaces in quotes.
