Product Information
What is Falkon?
Falkon, previously known as Qupzilla, is a cross-platform web browser based on QtWebEngine.
It aims to be a lightweight web browser available across all major platforms. Falkon includes all the standard features you'd expect from a web browser, such as bookmarks, history (also accessible via a sidebar), and tabs. Additionally, it comes with a built-in ad-blocking plugin enabled by default.
At Akademy 2017, David Faure, a former developer of Konqueror, proposed integrating Qupzilla into KDE to replace the aging Konqueror. His rationale was that Qupzilla had already advanced significantly in terms of web browsing functionality, whereas Konqueror had little active development, making it impractical to duplicate efforts.
