Mikuláš Patočka began writing Links (a text-mode browser at the time) in 1999. By 2000, Marting Pergel, Petr Kulhavý, and Karel Kulhavý joined the project, adding graphical and Javascript functionalities alongside Mikuláš Patočka. The program was primarily developed as a hobby and a school project.
