Location Guard

Modern browsers like Mozilla Firefox can inform websites of your location to provide location-based features. Your geographical position is determined through various methods, such as using WiFi data, and is often highly accurate, which may compromise your privacy. This extension allows you to enjoy the benefits of geolocation while safeguarding your privacy. It does so by reporting a false location to websites, achieved by adding a certain amount of "noise" to your real position. The noise is randomly selected in a way that ensures your actual location cannot be inferred with high precision. Three configurable privacy levels are available. The higher the privacy level, the greater the noise, offering better privacy at the cost of a less accurate fake location. It can be flexibly adjusted per use case: for example, providing a more precise location for driving directions compared to weather forecasts. There is also an option to use a fixed location instead of adding noise to your real one. This offers the highest level of privacy (completely independent of your actual location) but with significantly reduced accuracy. Note: Your location can also be detected via your IP address, though with lower accuracy. Location Guard protects the precise location revealed through JavaScript APIs.
