What is Minimem?
Minimem, initially developed only for Firefox, now reduces the memory footprint of any application. It runs in the background and can optimize as many images as possible using a very intuitive graphical interface. Unlike other memory optimization tools, it gives you full control over which applications to optimize, when, and how often, and the possibility to optimize memory only when needed. It optimizes memory by removing as many non-essential memory pages as possible from selected processes. It does this periodically, by default every 30 seconds, though it can be user-defined, using an advanced merging mechanism to ensure Minimem's CPU usage always remains low. This then optimizes your applications, which can load these pages when needed, and improves the overall system performance when memory is constrained. Minimem runs in the background and is completely unobtrusive. It stays in your tray, and you can access its settings at any time, with your preferred settings remembered for optimal use. Its intuitive GUI should make it suitable for any type of user, so no specific skills are needed to take advantage of this excellent tool.
