What is Reelcontrol?

By reversing the (extremely) annoying trend of social media platforms removing native progress bars to keep you hooked, ReelControl brings back a progress bar and playback controls where they should be—on Instagram, YouTube Shorts, or Facebook Reels.
Restoring progress bars and video controls lets you:
- Know the time commitment before watching
- Rewind when you miss something
- Skip ahead without having to start over
I originally built this for myself and found that not only did it make watching these videos more enjoyable when I actually liked them, but I also noticed I spent much less time mindlessly scrolling. I didn’t have to actively block them—I just naturally disengaged more. Plus, I ended up spending less time on my phone because, now accustomed to having that progress bar, I’d leave immediately when I remembered I didn’t want to be there.
