Why The main reason I built this is because I needed a simple tool to create beautiful invoices, estimates, and receipts but couldn’t find one that fit my needs. I don’t invoice for a living, but I occasionally need it, so the ideal app should excel at just one thing—creating invoices. I didn’t need full-fledged bookkeeping or accounting software. I believe many others—freelance designers, developers, photographers, writers—share this need. However, most (if not all) products I found had these issues: **Complexity** Most invoicing products today are web-based, meaning you need to maintain yet another account (and possibly pay monthly fees) just to create invoices. Sure, there are self-hosted open-source options, but they add new layers of complexity to your workflow. Who sets it up? Who maintains the server? Who covers the costs? You’d always need an internet connection to create invoices, and sometimes it’s slow. **Privacy** With web services, you often give away your data—whether you want to or not.
