AWS Route 53

AWS Route 53 is a reliable and cost-effective Domain Name System (DNS) web service that translates domain names into numerical IP addresses. Route 53 is an "authoritative DNS" system. Authoritative DNS systems provide an update mechanism that developers can use to manage their public DNS names. It then responds to DNS queries, converting domain names into IP addresses so computers can communicate with each other. Our service name (Route 53) comes from the fact that DNS servers respond to queries on port 53 and provide answers that route end users to applications on the internet. In the future, we will add additional routing capabilities to Route 53 to better assist your users in finding the optimal way to access your website or application. Amazon Route 53 efficiently connects user requests to infrastructure running in AWS (such as Amazon EC2 instances, Elastic Load Balancing load balancers, or Amazon S3 buckets) and can also route users to infrastructure outside of AWS. You can configure DNS health checks with Amazon Route 53 to route traffic to healthy endpoints or independently monitor the health of your applications and their endpoints. Amazon Route 53 enables you to manage traffic globally with various routing types, including latency-based routing, Geo DNS, and weighted round-robin—all of which can be combined with DNS failover to achieve a variety of low-latency, fault-tolerant architectures. Amazon Route 53 also offers domain name registration—you can purchase and manage domain names like example.com, and Amazon Route 53 will automatically configure DNS settings for your domain.
