Azgaar's Fantasy Map Generator (FMG) is a free online tool that procedurally generates highly customizable fantasy maps. You can either use the auto-generated maps as they are or create your own world from scratch. A desktop application (Electron) is available for Windows, Mac, and Linux. Open the Style Settings (press Tab) and select your preferred layer preset. Zoom in and explore the generated world. Adjust – Navigate to Options, change default settings like map template and state count, then generate a new map to better suit your needs. Customize – Open the Tools tab, choose one of the available editors, and modify the map in any way you desire. Controlled Generation – Open the Tools tab, click Heightmap, and select Erase mode. Use the Template Editor to craft your own heightmap template. Apply the template to see the results—don’t forget to share great templates with the community! Conversion – If you already have a map image and wish to recreate it in the generator, open the Image Converter (button next to Template Editor), upload your image, and fine-tune the conversion into a heightmap. Then, use the provided tools to edit the map. Drawing – Use the brush tool to draw your map from scratch. This can be time-consuming, so it’s recommended to follow the controlled generation method for basic landmasses first, then refine with the brush.
