The Bosque programming language project is a foundational language and tool co-design effort focused on researching the theoretical and practical implications of: explicitly designing an intermediate code representation (or bytecode) to enable deep automated code reasoning and the deployment of next-generation development tools, compilers, and runtime systems; leveraging the power of intermediate representations to provide a programming language that is both easy for modern developers to use and offers a rich set of useful language features for building highly reliable and performant applications; and addressing emerging challenges with a cloud-first programming perspective as we shift into distributed cloud development models based on microservices, serverless, and RESTful architectures. Built on classical functional programming, modern TypeScript/Node.js, and the power of new IRs, Bosque is a language that supports high-productivity development while delivering resource-efficient and predictable runtimes, from small IoT scales to heavy cloud services.
