What is Codepile?
CodePile is a simple yet powerful collaborative code-sharing hub, built for modern coders. Without a doubt, it's the most aesthetically pleasing app of its kind, boasting a rich and ever-expanding feature set. CodePile supports syntax highlighting, code hints, and snippet completion for over 100 languages, along with two themes tailored to your preferences, delivering an experience akin to an in-browser IDE. Shared code links can be either static or collaborative. If you opt to enable collaborative coding, the editor features synchronized cursors (similar to Google Docs) for real-time updates as you code. This functionality also makes it an excellent tool for remote technical interview "whiteboarding"! CodePile allows you to take "snapshots" of the editor's state at any time. These snapshots can be referenced later (even directly via simple URL parameters) and restored to the live editor when needed.
The live chat sidebar with persistent history serves as both a comment board when no one is present and a real-time conversation panel when multiple users are reviewing the code together.
Creating an account on CodePile offers benefits such as the ability to manage your piles in your profile, bookmark any pile you desire, and permanently delete your own piles. Pile owners can also toggle read-only mode on and off as needed to prevent or allow others from making edits.
Whether you need a quick way to share your next code snippet or a fully-featured collaborative online editor for your team, give CodePile a try today.
Future enhancements on the roadmap include Teams, @targeting users in the chat panel, and raw (plain text) access to pile content. Stay tuned, and happy piling!
