Docland is a modern documentation generator and browser for open-source libraries. We create and host high-quality API documentation featuring smooth navigation, fast search, and an elegant UI. Currently, it supports generating documentation for Java libraries, including the JDK (Java Development Kit) and all published libraries on Maven Central. Support for more languages and repositories is planned for the future. Why Docland? Docland was built to address a common challenge developers face—how to quickly locate the API definitions of functions or classes? API documentation is scattered across the internet. When you search on Google, SEO articles dominate the top results, followed by non-programming content, and then your documentation—but not necessarily the version you need. LLMs might occasionally help by providing explanations and useful examples, but only if your query is highly representative in their training data. Otherwise, they either hallucinate or give up (as far as I know, none have succeeded). For developers, searching for API references is a frequent task, which is why we need better tools for this purpose. That’s why we built Docland—to document and index every package, making it effortless for you to find API references.
