What is Kakoune?
Kakoune is a code editor heavily inspired by Vim, so most of its commands resemble those of vi. Kakoune operates in two modes: normal mode and insert mode. In insert mode, keystrokes are directly inserted into the current buffer. In normal mode, keys are used to manipulate the current selection and to enter insert mode. Kakoune places a strong emphasis on interactivity, with most commands providing immediate and incremental results while still competing with Vim (in terms of keystroke count). Kakoune is selection-oriented; it is directional, encompassing character ranges, where a selection has an anchor point and a cursor character. Most commands move them, except when extending a selection, the anchor remains fixed while the cursor moves around.
