What is Pulsar editor?
Pulsar, sometimes referred to as Pulsar-Edit, is the new incarnation of the beloved "hackable text editor" Atom.
After Atom announced its retirement, the community rallied together to keep Atom alive through the longstanding fork, Atom Community. However, due to differing long-term goals among the maintainers, a new version emerged: Pulsar.
Pulsar aims not only to match the original Atom's functionality but also to propel it into the 21st century by updating its underlying architecture and supporting modern features.
Pulsar is an open-source, Electron-based text editor with a vast ecosystem of plugins and themes, easily accessible via its built-in package manager. Built with Electron, it utilizes web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Node.js) and delivers a consistent editing experience across Mac, Windows, and Linux desktops. Unlike most editors, it employs the same technology for themes, allowing the UI to be highly customizable through HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
Features:
- The same familiar workflow across platforms.
- Built-in package manager.
- File system browser.
- Advanced find and replace for multiple files and folders.
- Smart autocompletion.
