What is Map redirect?
Map Redirect is a Safari extension that replaces all map links on webpages to open with your chosen mapping application. You can select your preferred destination to always open in Apple Maps, Google Maps, Wego Maps, Bing Maps, or Waze. Map Redirect will automatically direct you to your selected map app. If you choose "Ask Me," it will prompt you each time to decide where to open the link.
It works on Google search pages and any other webpage—no need to copy/paste addresses.
**Instructions:**
1. Download Map Redirect from the App Store.
2. Go to Settings → Safari → Extensions and enable Map Redirect as a Safari extension.
3. Open Safari, search for a location (e.g., type "London").
4. Click the context menu (the "AA" symbol), then select Map Redirect to grant it access to the webpage.
5. The extension requires permission to read and modify webpages to alter map links. If prompted, you can allow access for one day or permanently.
6. In the Map Redirect popup, choose your destination (e.g., Apple Maps). The extension will scan the page and convert map links to open in Apple Maps.
7. Click any map link—Map Redirect will now take you to London in Apple Maps.
**Notes:**
- Map links on websites can appear in various formats with different parameters. Map Redirect attempts to detect and convert them to your chosen destination as accurately as possible. Hence, it needs permissions to read and modify webpage content.
- If Map Redirect doesn’t work on a specific webpage, contact us with the URL so we can inspect and fix it. Your contribution is appreciated!
- *Wego deep link support is limited to geo-coordinate links.
- *Bing Maps will use Apple Maps on iPhone.
- *Waze deep link support is limited to searching nearby locations from your current position.
**Privacy:**
Map Redirect does not use any trackers, nor does it store, track, sell, lease, or share any of your information with third parties. All processing occurs locally on the webpage you visit with the extension. No data is transmitted to any central server. Feel free to reach out to us anytime.
