Whale

Naver Whale is a free software web browser developed by Naver Corporation. The browser is also available in English. It was released for Android on April 13, 2018. Whale forte focuses on design, allowing users to choose their own skins and offering numerous options for clocks and tiles when opening new tabs. Whale takes a different approach by iterating on all leading browser features, among other things. However, much like Google's Chrome, where the OmniBox enables users to search directly from the address bar, Naver's Whale directs search terms straight to the Naver search engine. It is even built on Google's own open-source web browser project, Chromium, which also serves as the foundation for Chrome. On Whale, a suite of tools neatly tucked into the sidebar includes browser translation via Naver's neural machine translator, Papago, while the "belly" feature (whose icon, for some reason, resembles the shape of a whale's tail rather than its belly) serves as a space to store content like social media snippets. Particularly useful is the screenshot function, which lets users clip content from websites and save it instantly within the browser, as well as the memo feature for jotting down quick text notes. Arguably the coolest feature on Whale is "Omni-tasking," a split-screen function that allows browsing two sites within the same tab, complete with an adjustable divider. Imagine not having to juggle between tabs or set up separate windows that bog down and slow your computer. Also in Whale, by dragging a word within the browser, users can perform a "quick search" and instantly view results in a pop-up window. Whale also integrates with Naver's AI translation app, Papago, to translate foreign languages—including English and Chinese—into Korean. Additionally, Whale offers voice recognition to process spoken commands and a function that automatically reads webpage text aloud.
