What is Giscus?
A comment system powered by GitHub Discussions. Let visitors leave comments and reactions on your site via GitHub!
• Open source. 🌏
• No tracking, no ads, always free. 📡🚫
• No database needed. All data is stored in GitHub Discussions. :octocat:
• GitHub themes: light, dark, dark dimmed, and more! 🌗
• Automatically fetches new comments and edits from GitHub. 🔃
• Self-hostable! 🤳
**How It Works**
When giscus loads, the GitHub Discussions Search API is used to find the discussion linked to the page based on the selected mapping (URL, pathname, `<title>`, etc.). If no matching discussion is found, the giscus bot will automatically create one when someone leaves the first comment or reaction.
To comment, visitors must authorize the giscus app to post on their behalf via the GitHub OAuth flow. Alternatively, they can comment directly in the GitHub discussion. You can moderate comments on GitHub.
