Jabber is a federated, standardized communication network based on the XMPP protocol, which powers WhatsApp. The network uses Jabber IDs (JIDs) for communication, resembling email addresses. Since no single entity owns or controls the entire network, you can obtain a Jabber ID from one of many services or host your own. There are many different Jabber clients available, allowing you to use your Jabber ID on Android, iOS, the web, or computers. Does JMP support SIP? For advanced or specific use cases, JMP allows users to create a SIP account in their settings and log in using a SIP client. Can I get a SIM card and mobile data? Yes, you can! Check out our data-only mobile plans, which include SIM and eSIM options. Can I get a phone number outside the US or Canada? Currently, JMP only offers numbers in the US and Canada. These numbers can make and receive calls and messages to and from anywhere in the world. Features JMP does not (yet) support: RCS, video calling over the phone network. Can I port my existing number to JMP? Yes! We support most regions in Canada and the US. The process typically takes 1-2 weeks, depending on the number being ported.
