What is Packetbeat?
Packetbeat is an open-source application monitoring and packet tracing (packet sniffer) system. It operates by sniffing traffic and analyzing network protocols such as HTTP, MySQL, and REDIS. The Packetbeat agent sniffs the traffic between application processes, parses dynamic protocols like HTTP, MySQL, or REDIS, and correlates messages into transactions.
For each transaction, the agent inserts a JSON document into Elasticsearch for storage and indexing.
The Kibana UI application offers advanced visualizations and ad-hoc queries. We have extended Kibana with our own panel types to visualize network topology.
How to use Packetbeat?
