What is Picotron?
Fantasy Desktop Picotron comes with an adorable desktop interface featuring tabbed workspaces and a collapsible tool tray accessible from any workspace. The tool tray acts as a secondary desktop, providing easy access to frequently used files and widgets. Files can also be stacked neatly on top of each other, forming organized piles that can be scrolled through using the mouse wheel.
Bundled Tools
Use the built-in editors or create your own! The included code, graphics, tilemap, music, and sound effect editors are all crafted within Picotron itself, utilizing the standard /system/lib libraries to handle features like infinite undo stacks, GUI, and file management.
Customize Your Workstation
Design your own dynamic wallpapers, screensavers, icons, and widgets, and tailor your workflow to your liking! Or browse the BBS to see what other cartridge creators are up to.
Next-Gen Fantasy Hardware
Picotron is built on tightly integrated, flexible graphics and audio pipelines, ensuring smooth performance on low-power devices and the web. Each component comes with a user-friendly API for handling common tasks, such as drawing color-swapped sprites or triggering sound effects. Yet, the underlying data and machine state are fully exposed in virtual RAM, offering endless possibilities for those eager to dive deep down the rabbit hole.
Status: Alpha
