Serial to Ethernet Connector enables you to share up to 255 serial port devices over a TCP/IP network, turning your computer into a low-cost terminal server. As a result, any serial port device connected to a COM port can be accessed from anywhere in the world as if it were attached to a local PC. When the connected serial port device sends communication data, it will actually be transmitted over the TCP/IP network. This behavior is achieved through the use of virtual serial port technology that emulates standard COM ports. In this scenario, the Windows operating system treats virtual serial ports the same way as real ones, so you are no longer limited to just two physical ports per system (the number of physical ports you have) and can establish COM port connections without occupying actual serial ports. Serial to Ethernet Connector offers the capability to create various types of connections for three primary purposes: sharing incoming serial port connections (server), connecting serial ports to a remote host (client), and sharing serial ports using UDP.
