Muse closely resembles Meta’s 2015 project, M, an AI assistant integrated into Messenger. According to former Messenger chief David Marcus, M could handle purchases, gift deliveries, restaurant bookings, travel arrangements, and other tasks. Despite these capabilities, user engagement was minimal, leading Meta to discontinue M in January 2018.
