TikTok is rolling out three new comment tools designed to increase user interaction and engagement within video discussions. The platform aims to provide viewers with more dynamic ways to respond to content, including voice comments, polls, and photo carousels.

Voice Comments: React with Audio

One of the most notable additions is voice comments, allowing users to leave audio responses instead of text. By tapping a microphone icon in the comment section, viewers can record voice messages up to 60 seconds long. These audio comments will display with a playable file and a translated text version below.

TikTok stated, “Whether you’re laughing at a meme, singing with a creator, or reacting to a sudden plot twist, Voice Comments make it easy to say what you’re feeling — no typing required.”

The feature will be available globally over the next month for users aged 18 and older.

Comment Polls for Real-Time Feedback

TikTok is also introducing polls in comments, but only video creators can initiate them. Each poll supports up to five response options, and creators can track results in real time.

“As votes come in, creators can track results directly in the comment section, making it easy to see how the conversation is trending,” TikTok explained.

Comment polls are now available to all creators worldwide.

Photo Carousel and Live Photo Replies

To further diversify engagement, TikTok is adding photo carousel comments and live photo replies. Users can attach up to nine images in a single comment, which expands into a scrollable carousel when tapped. Live photos enable dynamic image responses, enhancing in-stream interactions.

While photo comments are already live globally, photo carousels will roll out over the next month.
