X Introduces Number Code Option for Secure Messaging
X Launches Secure Number Code for Direct Messages
X has introduced a new number code feature for its updated X Chat messaging system, providing users with an alternative way to connect without sharing phone numbers or personal details. The feature generates a unique 10-digit "X number" that can be shared to enable direct messages (DMs) with non-followers.
How the X Number Feature Works
As shared by @XFreeze on X, the new system allows users to generate a temporary code that grants DM access to non-followers. Profile visitors who are not mutual followers can enter this code to initiate a conversation, adding an extra layer of security.
Additionally, users can refresh their X number to update the code, maintaining control over who can message them. This feature also enables audio and video calls for approved contacts.
Enhanced Privacy and Flexibility
The update expands X Chat’s functionality by allowing users to selectively open their DMs to a broader audience without compromising privacy. Currently, X permits users to receive DMs from followers or, optionally, from anyone. The new number code system provides a middle ground, letting users share access temporarily—ideal for events, promotions, or exclusive fan interactions.
For example:
- Event organizers could share a code with attendees for post-event communication.
- Celebrities might offer limited-time access to fans before deactivating the code.
Rollout Status
The X number feature is currently being rolled out to users globally. This update aligns with X’s broader efforts to enhance messaging security and usability.
like.tg will continue monitoring further developments in X’s messaging features.
