Meta Unveils AI-Powered Business Messaging Tools at London Event
Meta has unveiled a significant expansion of its artificial intelligence-powered messaging capabilities for businesses during its Conversations event in London on June 3, 2026. The updates include broader access to automated business agents, improved business discovery on WhatsApp, and a new platform for building advanced AI-powered customer experiences.
Global Expansion of AI Business Agents
The company is rolling out its AI-powered business agents worldwide after initially testing them in select markets. These automated systems can handle common customer inquiries across Messenger and WhatsApp, providing 24/7 responses without human intervention.

According to Meta's announcement: "More than one million businesses are already using a Meta Business Agent on WhatsApp and Messenger to respond to customers around the clock. With a billion people connecting with businesses daily across our platforms, these agents can deliver personalized experiences from the first interaction."
The AI agents not only respond to queries but also collect valuable customer data during conversations, reducing manual work while improving service quality. Meta plans to extend this functionality to Instagram in the coming months.
Coming Soon: Paid Subscription Model
While currently available for free, Meta revealed that businesses will soon need to pay for access to these AI tools. "In the coming months, businesses will access the agent through our paid subscription offerings, with options for businesses of every size," the company stated.
Enhanced Business Discovery on WhatsApp
Meta is introducing new ways for users to find businesses with AI agents on WhatsApp through an improved search function.

"Starting soon, people will be able to find businesses by typing their name in the Search bar, or by sharing their phone number or contact card in chats with friends and family," Meta explained. "This way, when more customers reach out they get a quick, helpful response."

The AI agents will soon offer more sophisticated capabilities beyond customer service, including providing business owners with operational insights and reminders.

Meta outlined future plans: "We'll expand its capabilities to help run all your day-to-day operations — like conducting market research, surfacing product insights, connecting with the tools to manage your calendar and providing competitive intelligence."
