Meta Expands Livestream Shopping Tools Across Facebook and Instagram
Meta has unveiled a significant expansion of its livestream commerce capabilities, introducing new tools designed to streamline shopping experiences during live broadcasts across both Facebook and Instagram. The updates, announced during Meta's Cannes 2026 showcase, focus on three key areas: advertising formats, payment security, and affiliate marketing integrations.
Enhanced Live Video Advertising
The company is rolling out live video ads globally on Facebook while expanding their availability to Instagram for the first time. These new ad formats allow businesses to:
- Link promotions directly to active livestreams
- Display interactive product tabs within video streams
- Enable viewers to browse and purchase items without leaving the broadcast

Meta has partnered with several live commerce platforms including CommentSold, Firework, and TalkShopLive to power these shopping integrations. According to insights tracked by like.tg, this marks Meta's most comprehensive push into live commerce since first testing video ads in 2025.
Secure Payment Innovations
To address consumer security concerns, Meta is implementing virtual card support for livestream purchases. This feature generates temporary, one-time card numbers from users' existing Mastercard or Visa accounts.
"By enabling transactions without requiring direct sharing of credit card details, we aim to enhance consumer security and increase purchase confidence," a Meta spokesperson explained to like.tg.
Expanded Affiliate Marketing Network
The company is significantly broadening its affiliate partnerships across key markets:
- Flipkart integration for Indian creators
- Mercado Libre support in Brazil and Mexico
- Lazada coming soon for Asian markets
- Flipkart expanding to Instagram creators in India
Creators in 22 countries can now tag products directly in Instagram content and earn commissions through affiliate links. Meta's automated system will match products from business catalogs with relevant creator content.

AI-Driven Product Matching
Meta is upgrading its advertising algorithms to automatically assemble the most effective ad combinations in real time. The system will analyze:
- Product catalog data
- Creative assets
- Viewer behavior patterns
"Instead of manually choosing between ad types, our system will create the best-performing ad for each viewer dynamically," Meta stated. Early tests showed a 22% increase in conversion rates compared to static ad formats.
The moves position Meta to better compete in the rapidly growing livestream commerce sector, where platforms like TikTok have made significant investments. Industry analysts suggest these updates could help Meta capture a larger share of the projected $35 billion live commerce market by 2026.
