Meta Introduces Paid Tier for Edits Video Editing App
Meta’s Edits Video Editing App to Launch Paid Subscription Tier
Meta is expanding its dedicated video editing app, Edits, with a new paid subscription called Edits Plus. The offering, currently in development, will provide additional features and storage for professional users.
Edits Plus: Features and Availability
According to an internal slide shared as part of Meta’s broader business subscription announcement, Edits Plus will be available either as a standalone subscription or bundled within Meta One Business packages. The paid tier is expected to include:
- Expanded AI-powered editing tools
- Increased storage for video projects
- Higher usage limits
Meta has been steadily enhancing Edits with new features, positioning it as a competitor to ByteDance’s CapCut. Recent updates have focused on AI-driven enhancements and improved project management.
Meta’s Monetization Strategy for AI Tools
Meta had previously indicated plans to introduce paid tiers for advanced AI features. Instagram Chief Adam Mosseri explained in a July Q&A:
“These AI models are very expensive to run, and so we try to just offer them for free, but we have a cap on how many times you can use them per day. Eventually, you’re going to be able to subscribe to get access to more.”
The move aligns with Meta’s broader strategy to monetize AI-powered services, ensuring sustainable access for power users.
Pricing and Rollout Details Still Pending
Meta has not yet disclosed pricing or usage limits for Edits Plus. The company is likely testing demand before finalizing subscription tiers.
As video content continues to dominate social media, tools like Edits are becoming essential for creators. The introduction of a paid tier could further professionalize Meta’s editing ecosystem.
like.tg will monitor updates on Edits Plus as Meta finalizes its rollout plans.
