LinkedIn user time spent rises 15% year over year
User time spent on LinkedIn rose 15% year over year in Microsoft’s FY27 Q1, LinkedIn CEO Daniel Shapero said alongside Microsoft’s Oct. 28 earnings report. Shapero also reported growth in video and creator advertising.
LinkedIn has exceeded 1.4 billion members, up from 1.3 billion in Q4. The membership figure counts registered members, not active users.
The original report estimated that LinkedIn had around 420 million monthly active users, based on an active-usage rate of roughly 30% of its total member base at the last check. It noted that LinkedIn provides active-user figures for the EU, where the active count has fluctuated between 28% and 30% of the region’s member count. Those figures should not be read as a company-reported global active-user total.

Shapero said making LinkedIn more relevant and engaging has been a focus for the team, alongside helping members understand changing workforce trends. LinkedIn has introduced an option to report AI-generated content, continued efforts against inauthentic behavior such as engagement pods and paid automated engagement tools, and tested a Network tab intended to make it easier for members to engage with people they know.
Advertising and hiring products
Shapero said paid video ads on LinkedIn rose 25% year over year, while ads featuring creators increased 63% over the same period. LinkedIn has been expanding ways for brands to find creators and for creators to participate in ad revenue programs.
Shapero also said 25,000 customers are using LinkedIn’s agentic hiring products. Premium Company subscriptions rose 121% year over year.
